Pelican Knifefish Super Rare!
Pelican Knifefish (Compsaraia samueli)
Large 8-10"
Originating from the deep water channels of the Amazon River in Peru , the Pelican Knifefish is a rare and intriguing species. Males feature elongated snouts, possibly for competing with other males for the attention of females, who have a smaller head shape. Currently, there is limited knowledge of their behavior in the wild, but it is believed that they primarily feed on insects, using their highly developed ability to detect electrical currents. In captivity, they tend to be timid and are best kept in a tank with other peaceful fish or in a species-only environment. Due to their natural habitat, they thrive in low light conditions and require plenty of hiding places.
